Shipshewana, Indiana Trip!

September 15, 2015

What an exciting and fun trip!

The Menno-Hof consists of display rooms and talks giving the history of the Amish and Mennonites. Each time I hear this story when I visit the different Amish places, I learn something new. I didn't know the Amish and Mennonites were kept in dungeons and starved for pronouncing their belief in God and baptism.

Next, we went on a buggy ride. The Amish driver was a kind man who gave us the grand tour and showed us the beautiful flower and butterfly gardens they work so hard to keep beautiful.

Of course, we ate wonderful food. Butterscotch pie and corn pudding, my favorites!

The flea market had 900 booths! Amish bakery, but the rest was commercial. Very nice and got some great deals. I like Pampered Chef, and got a great flat stone for baking there. Blue Gate Hotel was clean, had a great staff, and we enjoyed the ice cream shop. I swam in their large pool, and the chlorine was just right.

I'll be giving away this Amish doll I bought from an elderly woman who makes these out of her home. She just happened to be with her daughter the day I visited the shop. Watch for the giveaway! I'll announce it here, in the newsletter and Facebook!

An Amish Christmas Sleigh

My story inside The Amish Christmas Sleigh is titled, "An Unexpected Christmas Blessing". In stores and online September 29, 2015, you will find it in print and ebook. You'll enjoy the stories, and The Amish Christmas Sleigh is a great gift idea.

Can you believe Christmas is only three months away! Snow, hot chocolate, selecting gifts, wrapping and decorating is soon going to be underway for many people.

Most important is that Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Growing up, Mom baked a birthday cake for Jesus every year, and we all blew out the candles. We read the Christmas story and prayed and thanked Him for what he's done for us. Then we opened our presents! We carry this tradition, minus the cake, each year.  My brother, Mitch, when he was little, had an old record player and he couldn't wait to play his "Happy Birthday" record. It was so cute. I love hearing about other's Christmas traditions. What's yours?

"Change of Heart" is a month away from release date of July 30th. This is the first book in my Keepsake Pocket Quilt series. I can't wait to see it on the shelves on available online. Rhonda Tucker won the newsletter contest and won this tote bag and goodies inside. Watch for more contests to come!

On a personal note, I reduced myself to a five year old and enjoyed Magic Kingdom with my huzby, Ed. It exceeded my expectations with the fun rides, beautiful scenery and of course, the magic armbands were awesome.

Traveled home back to Ohio and family came and spent the weekend. Played games and ate good food. Love Smashburger, and had a little meat with my ketchup and mustard. I'm thankful for plenty of napkins. Now, I'm back to being a grownup and writing my fourth book.

I'll be at The Greene in Beavercreek, Ohio speaking at Books & Company on July 9th at 7:00 p.m. Come and say hello. I'll be talking Amish and my journey to publishing.

July 30th at 6:30 p.m. - I'll be speaking Amish and writing at Springboro Library. Springboro is celebrating 200 hundred years and where I grew up. I'm excited to join in the celebration. They will have all kinds of activities the month of July. Please stop by and say hello.

Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend! Visit me on http://facebook.com/mollyjebber to keep in touch. Watch for upcoming contests on my website!

Time is the most precious gift we can give someone. One of my favorite memories is when Misty, my daughter came to Florida, we had those late night talks, laughed over silly things. Big hugs felt good. She's the reason I can't move permanently South. And yes! I did have help getting out of this chair. One big tug! I love my family and friends and hold tight to the memories we create. What is a fun memory you have with a friend or family member?

What is on your bucket list you haven't done? Why?

Is it setting aside the time to learn to play tennis, a game, write a book, poetry, or something else?

Set a date, make the call, and just do it! Writing for me was a long learning experience, but even the work it took to learn the craft was rewarding. God opened doors, introduced me to wonderful people, and allowed me to provide a good book for you to enjoy.

What is it you would like to do?
